Things to Do Near Windsor Cay Resort

Windsor Cay Resort sits in Clermont's Four Corners area, about 8 miles from Walt Disney World and within easy reach of Orlando's other theme parks, the Atlantic and Gulf beaches, the Port Canaveral cruise port, and the Kennedy Space Center. This guide covers what is nearby and roughly how far each one is, so you can plan park days and rest days with equal confidence.

How far are the theme parks?

Windsor Cay is about 8 miles from Walt Disney World, roughly a 15-minute drive, with Universal, Epic Universe, and SeaWorld a little farther east. For most groups that means quick mornings out the door and an easy drive back when the little ones fade.

Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex

About 70 miles east on Florida’s Space Coast, the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex is a full-day attraction the whole family treats like a theme park — real rockets, the actual Space Shuttle Atlantis, the towering Saturn V, and a bus tour out toward the launch pads. With a little luck you can even watch a live rocket launch while you are there.

  • See the real thing: the Rocket Garden, Space Shuttle Atlantis, and the Apollo/Saturn V Center.
  • Meet an astronaut: daily astronaut encounters and hands-on exhibits the kids love.
  • Plan a full day: allow most of a day, with about a 1 hour 15 minute drive each way.
  • Make it a coast day: Cocoa Beach and Port Canaveral are right next door.

Cruising or watching a rocket launch?

Windsor Cay makes an easy base before or after a cruise from Port Canaveral, and the Kennedy Space Center and its launch-viewing areas are about the same drive east. With a little timing, you can even catch a rocket launch on a clear day.
