Orlando Water Parks vs. Your Backyard Pool: A Family Strategy

Orlando does water three ways: the big ticketed water parks, your resort's included water amenities, and the private pool behind your own lanai. The happiest trips use all three on purpose — instead of paying water-park prices for what's already steps from your door.

When the big parks earn the ticket

Volcano Bay (Universal), Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach (Disney), and Aquatica (SeaWorld) bring the things a backyard can't: wave pools, monster slides, and that theme-park spectacle. They're worth a day when your crew skews 8-and-up, the forecast is clear, and you arrive at opening — water parks reach capacity earlier than people expect in summer.

What you already have at Windsor Cay

The Reef Club is, frankly, a small water park with no ticket: a resort-style pool, a lazy river, dual waterslides, and a splash pad sized for the under-7 crowd — plus mini-golf and the Tavern & Grill for the non-swimmers. For families with littles, it routinely out-delivers a $70-a-head park day.

And then there's your own pool
